Hearth
A university project developed for an exhibition setting, consisting of three metal lamp-objects and a supporting website.
Hearth / Web and object design
Context
In the contemporary world, many original forms are replaced by simulacra: signs detached from their origins. This project engages this condition through the hearth, an ancient and universal form. By translating it into a series of lamp-objects and placing them in a digital space, the work questions whether a simulacrum can still carry the meaning of the hearth, or whether it becomes a self-contained sign that produces symbolic warmth without a referent.
